Description

A Line Held Tight is a dynamic branching visual novel that follows The Canary, a member of a mining colony on a far-off planet. Out there, cut off from the rest of humanity by a vast expanse of space, tensions both political and personal start to rise.

As a strike boils over the player will help The Canary to decide where their heart and their loyalties lie. A branching narrative weaves its way through the deep tunnels of the mine to meet the characters within it as outside influences make themselves felt. Will you choose to make a stand?

A Line Held Tight is visual novel made by Humble Grove, featuring impactful choices, traditional charcoal art and a trad folk soundtrack. It will be available in early 2026.

History

A Line Held Tight is Humble Grove’s First Visual Novel. We started developing it while we were searching for funding for another project and soon enough we all got embroiled in the idea, and what was meant to be a very quick project done in order to keep our skills sharp soon grew into a game that we’re very proud of.

Poppy had recently released Lovely Lady RPG as part of Das Kunstkollektiv, and we thought that the engine used, Narrat, would be perfect for what we wanted to do. We now have a playable game demo that we’ll be bringing to events over the summer, and you can request a build at press@humblegrove.com
